In an informative and inspiring forum held at the St. Regis Hotel in Amman, Minister of Social Development Wafa Bani Mustafa emphasized the importance of increasing women’s representation in the upcoming parliamentary elections in Jordan. With amendments to the Political Parties Law requiring at least 20% representation of women and youth, the country is moving towards greater gender equality and inclusivity in politics.
Bani Mustafa, who also chairs the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Women’s Empowerment, highlighted the significant role that women can play in addressing social, health, and educational reforms if elected to Parliament. The event also saw the launch of the Second Guide to Combat Violence Against Women in Public Life, a vital resource in promoting the safety and empowerment of female politicians.
The forum, organized in collaboration with various esteemed institutions, featured discussions on leveraging women’s participation in political life and addressing the challenges they may face. Speaker Hamda Al Sulaiti commended the efforts of Jordanian women and their resilience in overcoming obstacles.
