Illegal Election in Kirkuk: Turkmen Front Member
A member of the Iraqi Turkmen Front (ITC) recently stated that the election of a new governor and council speaker in Kirkuk was illegal. The meeting, held in Baghdad, excluded key ethnic groups, including Turkmen. The ITC has filed a petition with the Federal Supreme Court to annul the election.
In response to the exclusion, the ITC has called for a protest against the new administration in Kirkuk. They emphasized that Turkmen are a fundamental element of Iraq and Kirkuk, and their representation should not be overlooked.
The ITC does not recognize the meeting and voting outcome, and they are organizing a protest on Tuesday in front of the Kirkuk governorate building. They are urging all Turkmen to participate in addressing this injustice against their community.
The Kirkuk Provincial Council, which consists of 16 seats, recently elected a new governor and council speaker in a controversial meeting in Baghdad. The ITC, along with other key ethnic groups, boycotted the vote in protest.
Stay tuned for updates on the situation as it unfolds!
