Palestinian movement Hamas has declined an invitation to participate in ceasefire talks with Israel, pushing for a return to the July proposal. This refusal comes after recent conditions set by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and escalating violence in the Gaza Strip.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Palestinian movement Hamas is refusing an invitation from the United States, Qatar and Egypt to participate in the final round of talks with Israel on a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, scheduled for August 15, the Axios portal reported, citing the movement’s statement.

Earlier, Egypt, Qatar, and the United States called on Israel and Hamas to resume discussions on the terms of a ceasefire on August 14-15, with Hamas citing recent events as reasons for their decision.

In a statement, Hamas urged mediators to push for the implementation of the deal proposed by US President Joe Biden back in July, emphasizing the need to end Israeli aggression.
