Hamas reaffirms support for Biden truce plan as more Gazans flee.

The Palestinian resistance group Hamas is calling for the immediate implementation of U.S. President Joe Biden’s truce plan in Gaza, following a deadly Israeli strike that killed nearly 100 people.

Despite international efforts to resume talks and negotiate a truce, Hamas is urging mediators to move forward with Biden’s plan without further negotiations. Israel has agreed to participate in talks scheduled for Thursday, alongside the United States, Qatar, and Egypt.

Hamas stresses the importance of implementing the truce plan laid out by Biden and endorsed by the U.N. Security Council, rather than engaging in additional rounds of negotiations. The plan includes a three-phase roadmap to a lasting cease-fire and the release of hostages.

Hamas also announced the appointment of Yahya Sinwar as its new leader following the assassination of previous leader Ismail Haniyeh. The ongoing violence in Gaza has forced hundreds of Palestinians to flee their homes in fear of further Israeli military operations.

3-phase plan

Recent airstrikes on Gaza, including one at a school housing displaced Palestinians, have drawn international condemnation. The conflict has resulted in significant loss of life and displacement, with residents enduring repeated evacuations due to military incursions.
