The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) is urging state governments to implement the new National Minimum Wage to enhance the standard of living. During the union’s national delegates conference in Lagos, ASCSN Secretary-General Joshua Apebo emphasized the importance of the new wage in boosting the purchasing power of Nigerians and driving economic growth.
Apebo also highlighted the need for consequential adjustments to prevent any grade level of workers from being short-changed. Additionally, he called for the restoration of gratuity for public service employees in treasury-funded Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
Newly elected ASCSN National President, Shehu Muhammed, emphasized the need for a living wage to address the challenges faced by workers and improve the overall economy. Trade Union Congress (TUC) President, Festus Osifo, commended ASCSN for advocating for its members’ welfare and pledged support towards ensuring their interests are prioritized.
