The recent political developments in Bangladesh have brought about a wave of change, with the appointment of a new chief justice and the formation of an interim government. Syed Refaat Ahmed, the 25th chief justice of Bangladesh, has taken office after his predecessor, Obaidul Hassan, stepped down amidst protest demands.

The new interim government is working towards resolving attacks on religious minorities, particularly Hindus, following the ouster of former premier Sheikh Hasina. The government, led by Nobel Peace Laureate Muhammad Yunus, has listed various urgent priorities including support for the families of protesters killed during demonstrations.

Hasina, who now resides in India, has accused the United States of playing a role in her removal from power, claiming she could have remained in office by compromising Bangladesh’s sovereignty. Her son, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, has also expressed concerns about foreign interference in the country’s internal affairs.

As Bangladesh navigates through this period of political transition, the focus remains on democratic reforms and fostering stability in the nation.
