BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 12. A recent earthquake in the village of Yeranos in the Gegharkunik region of Armenia caused widespread destruction. Not only did old buildings collapse, but the walls of some new buildings also crumbled and cracks appeared in others.
A government commission is currently assessing the situation in the area to determine the extent of the damage. The earthquake, which occurred on August 12 with a magnitude of 4.2, had a strength of 6 points at the epicenter.
While there are concerns among the population about the possibility of a stronger earthquake, experts believe that the likelihood of this is low. Regardless, efforts are being made to monitor the situation and ensure the safety of those living in the affected area.
