민주 광복절 기념식 불참 요청: 김형석 독립기념장 임명 철회 요구

The Democratic Party decided to boycott the government’s Liberation Day celebrations, demanding the immediate withdrawal of Kim Hyeong-seok as Independence Hall director. The interim party leader, Park Chan-dae, criticized the appointment, accusing Kim of distorting history and disgracing the Independence Hall. The party leaders called for Kim’s resignation and threatened further action if their demands were not met. Strong opposition to President Yoon Suk-yeol’s administration was voiced, with concerns about a possible erosion of independence movement values.

The party announced plans to hold a press conference on August 14 to denounce Kim’s appointment and confirmed their absence from the government’s Liberation Day event. This move follows similar declarations from other political parties disenchanted with recent appointments. Calls for Kim’s immediate resignation from the director position intensified, with party leaders expressing dissatisfaction and threatening protests if the issue is not addressed promptly. This firm stance reflects growing discontent with the current administration’s decisions and actions.
