Donald Trump Accuses Iran of Hacking Campaign Amid Election Interference Concerns

US presidential candidate Donald Trump has accused Iran of hacking his campaign, claiming that the Iranian government stole and distributed sensitive internal documents. This comes amidst reports of foreign efforts to interfere in the 2024 US presidential election, as detailed by a Microsoft report.

While the Trump campaign cited past tensions between Trump and Iran, direct evidence was not provided. Campaign spokesman Steven Cheung stated, “These documents were obtained illegally from foreign sources hostile to the United States, intended to interfere with the 2024 election and sow chaos throughout our democratic process.”

Iran has denied the allegations, with its permanent mission to the UN stating that the Iranian government has no intention to interfere in the US presidential election. Despite poor relations with Trump, Iran maintains that its cyber capabilities are defensive in nature.

The US Department of Justice recently unsealed criminal charges against a Pakistani national with ties to Iran, further escalating tensions surrounding election security and foreign influence.
