Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Ododo, praised President Bola Tinubu for initiating the Barefoot Renewable Energy College in Kogi State. The groundbreaking ceremony took place at the Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara, with Governor Ododo, Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology Uche Nnaji, and Director General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi in attendance.
The Renewable Energy College aims to address climate change issues by promoting renewable energy sources and gender equality, empowering marginalized communities and enhancing local resilience. Minister Nnaji highlighted the importance of tackling the manpower gap in the renewable energy industry for sustainable development. He emphasized the need for collaboration with industry players and community support for the college’s success.
Director General Abdullahi affirmed that the college represents a significant milestone in delivering renewable energy solutions in Nigeria, bridging the manpower gap and enhancing innovation in the sector. The project is a testament to Governor Ododo’s commitment and will leave a lasting impact on future generations.
