Libyan Army Strengthening Border Defense Due to Nearby Instability

Libyan Army Boosting Border Contingent Amid Instability in Mali, Niger, Chad – Spokesman

BENGHAZI (Sputnik) – The Libyan National Army (LNA) of eastern Libya has significantly boosted forces on the country’s borders with Mali, Niger, and Chad amid growing instability in these countries, according to the LNA official spokesman, Ahmed al-Mismari.

Al-Mismari stated that the LNA has sent reserves to strengthen and support the border contingent in the southwest of Libya to ensure security and counteract instability-related situations in neighboring countries.

“Border defense requires coordination with neighboring countries to maintain control and respond to security or humanitarian issues,” said Al-Mismari, indicating ongoing cooperation with Mali, Niger, and Chad.

The Libyan border forces have established three defense lines spanning 4,200 kilometers to fortify security. With Libya governed by rival factions, the country faces challenges from tribal groups and terrorism.

Earlier, Mali and Niger lodged a complaint with the UN Security Council regarding alleged support from Kiev for armed groups in northern Mali.
