Wayanad, Kerala witnessed an extensive search operation on Sunday morning to find those still missing after the devastating landslide on July 30. The search had paused briefly for Prime Minister Modi’s visit on Saturday, with authorities handing over the area to SPG.
Police, fire personnel, volunteers, survivors, and victims’ kin were all part of the search, with hundreds of civil volunteers, including women, marching towards the affected areas. The Army-built Bailey bridge facilitated their access. Local representatives and camp volunteers had to register to join the mission.
During his visit, Modi promised full support for the relief and rehabilitation efforts in Kerala, acknowledging the tragic loss of 229 lives with over 130 still missing. This calamity was described as “nature displaying its furious form.”
