China backs Iran’s ‘sovereignty’ post-assassination

China has expressed its support for Iran in maintaining regional peace and stability, emphasizing the importance of upholding United Nations Security Council resolutions. The Chinese foreign ministry described the relationship between China and Iran as that of “comprehensive strategic partners”, showing willingness to collaborate with the new Iranian government.

Tensions escalated following the assassination of Hamas leader in Iran, leading to fears of wider conflict. China, as a peace broker, has been actively involved in de-escalation efforts in the Middle East, with recent diplomatic talks with Egypt, Jordan, and Iran. In addition, China brokered an agreement between rival Palestinian factions aimed at unity.

The situation remains volatile, with Iran staging massive military drills and appointing a new foreign minister. China’s commitment to peace and stability in the region is evident through its proactive diplomatic engagements and efforts to foster cooperation among involved parties.
