Aurangzeb Abdali narrative fuels political spat in Maharashtra BJP-Sena showdown

In the midst of the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Assembly polls, the rivalry between Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT) and the BJP has reached new heights. Thackeray’s statement about the people of Ayodhya making “BJP-mukt Ram” has sparked further controversy, prompting the BJP to retaliate with remarks about Shiv Sena’s departure from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s legacy.

This clash escalated when Amit Shah referred to Thackeray as the “leader of the Aurangzeb Fan Club,” leading to a war of words between the two parties. Thackeray likened Shah to Ahmed Shah Abdali, a historical figure known for invading the Indian subcontinent multiple times.

Addressing Shiv Sena (UBT) members in Thane district, Thackeray declared, “My sainiks are my ‘wagh-nakh’…I do not fear Abdali.” This bold statement was met with applause from the audience.

Responding to Thackeray’s comments, state BJP President Chandrashekhar Bawankule criticized him for distancing from Shivaji Maharaj’s legacy and accused him of carrying the “palki” of Aurangzeb. The verbal sparring continues to intensify as both parties exchange barbs and accusations.
