Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler emphasized the strong historical ties and mutual respect between Türkiye and Japan, marking the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Speaking aboard a Japanese training ship in Istanbul, Guler highlighted the importance of dialogue and cooperation in building a better future for both nations.

Ambassador Katsumata, reflecting on the long history of naval visits between Türkiye and Japan, expressed confidence that the recent visit of Japanese ships to Istanbul would further strengthen the friendship between the two nations. The event was attended by various dignitaries, including Deputy Defense Minister Alpaslan Kavaklioglu and Japanese Ambassador Katsumata Takahiko.

The visit of Japanese ships Kashima and Shimakaze to Istanbul is part of the centennial celebrations of diplomatic relations between Türkiye and Japan. The vessels will be open to the public for visits over the weekend, showcasing the collaboration and friendship between the two nations.
