The Critical Role and Increasing Danger to Their Existence

Discover the significance of bees in the ecosystem, the alarming decline in their populations, and how you can help protect these essential pollinators. Learn why Poland celebrates Great Bee Day every August 8th. Most of us underestimate the importance of bees, with around 20,000 species responsible for pollinating crops and ensuring better quality fruits and vegetables. Bees play a crucial role in maintaining the Earth’s ecosystem balance, but their populations are declining due to pesticides, diseases, pests, climate change, and more.

To support bee conservation, plant honey-bearing plants, leave part of your garden wild, avoid using insecticides toxic to bees, and buy local honey. Governments can also provide support to beekeepers, as seen in Poland, where over 10 million euros are allocated annually to the beekeeping sector. With collective action, we can protect bees and ensure their survival for the well-being of our planet.
