President Salva Kiir of South Sudan has embarked on a trip to Kigali, Rwanda, to attend the inauguration of President Paul Kagame, who recently won the general elections. He was bid farewell by Vice President Riek Machar and other government officials at Juba Airport. As the chairperson of the East African Community (EAC), President Kiir will join world leaders at the ceremony marking President Kagame’s fourth term in office.
The visit aims to strengthen regional collaboration and address common challenges within the East African community. The leaders are expected to engage in discussions on regional peace and stability. The inauguration ceremony at Amahoro Stadium is anticipated to draw over 40,000 attendees, including 23 Heads of State. The event will include a grand military parade and traditional dance performances, showcasing Rwanda’s cultural heritage and celebrating President Kagame’s enduring leadership.
President Kagame, who has led Rwanda since 2000, has overseen significant transformations in the country. The visit underscores the importance of collective goals and cooperation in the region.
