Iran Seeks to Avoid Impacting Gaza Cease-Fire Talks

Iran has expressed its intention to avoid negatively impacting Gaza cease-fire talks with its anticipated retaliation against Israel following the assassination of Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh. The priority remains to achieve a permanent cease-fire in Gaza, according to Iran’s permanent mission to the UN.

The statement from Iran condemned Haniyeh’s assassination as a violation of national security and sovereignty. Despite emphasizing its right to self-defense, Iran hopes that its response will not impede the ongoing cease-fire efforts.

Following the heightened tensions, leaders from Egypt, Qatar, and the US have called for resuming cease-fire and hostage exchange talks between Israel and Hamas. The Israeli onslaught against the Gaza Strip has resulted in devastating consequences for the Palestinian population.

As the situation continues to unfold, Iran’s stance on the Gaza conflict and its commitment to peaceful resolution will play a crucial role in the region’s stability.
