In the latest Israeli strike on a school housing displaced Palestinians in Gaza Strip, the death toll has risen to more than 90 according to the civil defence agency. The toll, if confirmed, would be one of the largest from a single strike during the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas Palestinian militants.
The strike, which hit a militants’ command centre, killed over 100 people and left dozens wounded. With most of Gaza’s 2.4 million people displaced, schools have become a refuge for many.
Images from the scene show a large complex with white-shrouded bodies, blood stains, and debris. The Islamic Jihad group reported the strike took place during dawn prayer, resulting in severe and critical injuries to many.
Israeli strikes on schools have resulted in more than 280 deaths since July 6, with multiple schools being targeted in the conflict. The ongoing violence continues to claim innocent lives and displace thousands of Palestinians.
