The French prosecutor’s office announced that Egyptian Olympic wrestler Mohamed Ibrahim Kishto, arrested in Paris on sexual harassment charges, has been released and all charges dropped.
The Paris prosecutor’s office revealed that the detention order for the 26-year-old athlete was lifted as the alleged crime was deemed not serious enough.
The public prosecutor’s office stated that the investigation was closed due to insufficient evidence after reviewing surveillance footage of the incident.
Following his release, Kishto was allowed to return to Cairo from Charles de Gaulle Airport.
The Egyptian Olympic Committee confirmed that the wrestler’s release came after the investigation into the sexual harassment allegations was closed.
