A joint initiative between Christ University and Maralur Gram Panchayat has launched the Suvarna Karnataka Abhiyaan in Anekal Taluk. The project aims to conduct a digital survey of households to register eligible residents for insurance. Specially trained students from Christ University will collect details and enroll residents for life, personal accident, and health insurance schemes.
The program’s primary goal is to ensure all Indians are insured by 2047. The initiative started in Chakkittapara GP in Kerala, where over 11,000 people were uninsured. Through collaborative efforts, the GP was declared “fully insured.” Maralur GP’s selection was strategic due to its infrastructure and amenities, making it an ideal location for insurance outreach.
Professors at Christ University emphasized the importance of community-based insurance initiatives during the launch. The program’s success in Kerala serves as a model for replicating the concept in Maralur and potentially scaling it nationwide.
