Agency report reveals politicians in Kano diverting N18bn public funds

The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission has uncovered a shocking N18 billion stolen from politicians in connivance with civil servants. The chairman of the anti-graft agency highlighted that 90 percent of corrupt cases involve civil servants through procurement processes. This alarming revelation was made during an Anti-Corruption workshop organized for state senior civil servants.

The chairman emphasized the misuse of public servants by politicians to siphon public funds and warned about the consequences of such actions. The agency is committed to imposing zero tolerance towards corrupt practices across the board. The workshop aimed to educate civil servants on Anti-Corruption law, public procurement, and financial management laws to enhance transparency.

The Head of Service in Kano State acknowledged the need to review financial regulations to guide public financial management. The state coordinator of ICPC highlighted contract inflation, substandard services, and other corrupt practices eroding the credibility of the civil service in Kano.
