In a recent turn of events, Jeong Bong-joo, a candidate for the top position in the Democratic Party, announced plans to clarify his stance on various issues next week after facing controversy over his comments regarding party leader Lee Jae-myung. Jeong emphasized his focus on the impeachment of Yoon Suk-yeol and the victory of the Democratic Party.
Previously, former Justice Party lawmaker Park Won-seok stirred up controversy by claiming that Jeong was displeased with Lee’s alleged interference in the election for top party officials. Park also quoted Jeong as saying that if he made it into the top five, he would show how things are done.
Jeong initially gained momentum in the primary election for the position of top official by consistently ranking first in the regional primary tours. However, Kim Min-seok, supported by former party leader Lee Jae-myung, made a surprising ascent in the polls, overtaking Jeong to claim the top spot. Stay tuned for more updates as the party’s internal struggle unfolds.
