The recent succession crisis within Ohanaeze Ndigbo has taken a new turn as the youth wing bars the Secretary General, Ambassador Okey Emuchay, from the national secretariat in Enugu. They have reaffirmed Mazi Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu as the acting National Youth Leader, sparking conflict with the parent body.
Following the NEC meeting in Enugu, the youth wing emphasized that Emuchay lacked the authority to remove or replace any executive officer, challenging his attempts to remove Okpalaezeukwu. The parent body had withdrawn leadership from Okpalaezeukwu, labeling him as unfit and urged the public to distance themselves.
In response, the youth wing stood by Okpalaezeukwu as the Acting National Youth Leader, expressing their commitment amidst challenges faced by the Igbo community. They called for strategic meetings with governors to address issues of violence and economic instability in the region.
Moreover, they urged the Abia State government to obey a court judgment to prevent civil unrest in the state. The youth group’s resilience and unity remain strong, emphasizing the need for lasting solutions and communal support during turbulent times.
