Ukraine forces reportedly reach Sudzha outskirts in Kursk, Russia

The Russian Defense Ministry claimed that Russian forces are engaged in attacks against Ukrainian soldiers near the town of Sudzha as Kyiv’s incursion persists into the fourth day. The town is just 10 kilometers from the Ukrainian border and sits 85 kilometers northeast of Kursk. This marks the first time Moscow has acknowledged Ukrainian forces reaching Sudzha. Russian forces are also reportedly attacking Ukrainian manpower and equipment in nearby settlements. The battles are taking place close to Kurchatov in the Kursk region. Russian Telegram channels suggest Ukrainian forces are advancing towards Lgov, where a strategic highway is located. The situation has led to a federal emergency being declared in the Kursk region, with several railway stations temporarily closed to passengers. President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russia has brought war to Ukrainian soil. The Kyiv Independent has been unable to verify these claims. The conflict escalates as Ukrainian forces push into Russian territory, bringing war back to the Russian homeland.
