The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) of Russia has declared a federal state of emergency in Kursk Region due to advancing Ukrainian troops. The decision was made in an extraordinary session by the Government Commission on Preventing and Eliminating Emergency Situations and Ensuring Fire Safety.
Acting Governor Alexei Smirnov had already declared a state of emergency in the region earlier to address the consequences of the attack by Ukrainian armed forces on the border regions of Kursk.
