Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Highlights Government Initiatives to Boost Agriculture Sector
During the inaugural ceremony of the 2nd International Food and Agriculture Exhibition in Karachi, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the Pakistani government’s efforts to enhance the agriculture sector. He mentioned that Pakistan’s agriculture exports have already exceeded three billion dollars and set a target of reaching seven billion dollars. The government is also working on providing necessary facilities to farmers, including shifting tube-wells in Balochistan to solar power.
Furthermore, offering easy loans to farmers in rural areas is another strategy to increase agricultural production in the country. In recognition of outstanding achievements in agriculture exports, the prime minister presented awards to deserving recipients.
Growth in Agriculture Sector Reaches 6.25% in Fiscal Year 2023-2024
The Economic Survey of Pakistan reported a significant growth of 6.25% in the agriculture sector compared to the previous year. The increase in production of key crops such as cotton, rice, and wheat contributed to this growth, signaling positive momentum in Pakistan’s agriculture industry.
