Pakistan vows to assist in preventing Middle East escalation

Pakistan denies reports of providing Shaheen-III missiles to Iran, as claimed by The Post, citing Reuters. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, referred to the Maariv report based on Arab sources. The report stated that Pakistan planned to supply missiles to Iran in case of a conflict with Israel, discussed during an OIC meeting in Saudi Arabia.

Despite no diplomatic ties with Israel, Pakistan aims for improved relations with Iran, stating increased trade and regional cooperation. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza at the OIC meeting, calling for de-escalation and humanitarian aid access. Baloch reiterated Pakistan’s support for preventing war in the Middle East.

In a separate incident, a Pakistani man with alleged ties to Iran was charged in the US for a foiled assassination plot. Pakistan has reached out to US authorities for further information. Baloch maintained the stance that individual nationality cannot be determined without complete details.
