The Foreign Office (FO) dismissed India’s allegations of Pakistan’s involvement in the ousting of Bangladesh’s then-prime minister Sheikh Hasina, calling it New Delhi’s “disturbing obsession” with Islamabad. Reports emerged from India blaming Pakistan’s intelligence agencies for destabilizing Bangladesh’s government.

After a student-led protest, the Bangladeshi military took control, leading to an interim government under Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus. FO spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch denied Pakistan’s involvement and criticized India for blaming Pakistan for its failures in domestic and foreign policy.

Bangladesh saw violent riots following protests against government job quotas, resulting in Hasina’s resignation after a decade in power. Despite the unrest, Pakistan expressed support for Bangladesh, hoping for a peaceful resolution and a harmonious future for the Bangladeshi people.

Bangladesh Riots

The protests that ousted Hasina stemmed from discontent over job quotas, escalating into anti-government movements. Hasina’s alleged election rigging and human rights abuses fueled the unrest, leading to hundreds of deaths.
