The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy recently received new domestically-made equipment, including radar-evading cruise missiles with high-explosive warheads, in a ceremony attended by IRGC chief commander Major General Hossein Salami.
This delivery of 2,640 missile systems, drones, and other equipment showcases Iran’s advancements in defense technology. The new cruise missiles are designed to evade current missile systems and have the capability to cause severe damage to enemy destroyers.
The IRGC Navy now possesses various long-range and medium-range missiles, combat and reconnaissance drones, as well as electronic warfare systems. Only a fraction of the total systems were displayed during the ceremony due to security reasons, but they represent some of the navy’s most advanced weapons.
Major General Hossein Salami emphasized the importance of strength and independence in today’s world, noting that nations must choose between becoming strong or succumbing to external pressures. He highlighted the critical role of naval power and the importance of precision and speed in naval operations.
Iran’s continuous advancements in defense technology demonstrate its commitment to self-sufficiency and strengthening its military capabilities for defense purposes, as reaffirmed by Ayatollah Khamenei. The focus on utilizing artificial intelligence in naval operations reflects Iran’s dedication to staying at the forefront of military technology.
