New Delhi: Lok Sabha MP Shrikant Shinde expressed concerns about the growing popularity of gaming apps, especially those involving betting, stating that Indian youth are becoming addicted to them. During the Zero Hour in Lok Sabha, Shinde highlighted the issue of gaming disorder affecting 3.5% of adolescents, leading to financial crises in some cases.
Shinde specifically mentioned Junglee Rummy as a problematic game contributing to online gaming addiction in India, with a significant market share that includes betting. He emphasized the need for increased awareness and stricter laws to address the risks associated with online gaming.
Congress MP Karti Chidambaram also raised issues during the Zero Hour, citing non-tariff barriers on the import of polyester fiber, making it more expensive in the Indian market compared to international prices. He criticized the presence of crony capitalism benefiting certain manufacturers and called for the removal of these barriers to protect textile units.
Additionally, Ludhiana MP Amrinder Singh Raja Warring highlighted the activities of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, known for criminal activities and threats, urging the government to take action against them.
