Israeli strikes kill over 18 in Gaza school attacks

Israeli airstrikes targeted two schools in Gaza, resulting in the death of at least 18 people, as reported by Gaza’s civil defense agency. The schools, Al-Zahra and Abdel Fattah Hamoud in Gaza City, were hit, leaving 60 wounded and more than 40 missing.

The civil defense agency condemned the attacks, labeling them as a clear targeting of schools and civilian facilities. The Israeli military claimed the schools housed Hamas command centers, justifying their actions.

Due to the ongoing conflict, school operations in Gaza were suspended, with most schools now functioning as emergency shelters for displaced individuals. The Israeli offensive has caused severe disruptions in Gaza, with 85% of the population internally displaced and facing shortages of essential resources.

International outcry against Israel’s actions has led to accusations of genocide, with the International Court of Justice ordering a halt to operations in Rafah, where over a million Palestinians sought refuge.
