Iran Press/West Asia: Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Somalia, met with Ali Bagheri, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, on the sidelines of the meeting of the Executive Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Jeddah.
In this meeting, Ali Bagheri welcomed Somalia’s initiative to restore relations between the two countries and emphasized the importance of Islamic countries strengthening their relations to confront common enemies. He highlighted the need for collaboration between Islamic nations and expressed no restrictions on expanding ties with African countries.
Referring to the Zionist regime’s atrocities, Bagheri emphasized the need for unified action and policy against Israel’s threats to not only Palestinians but the entire Islamic nation. The new foreign minister of Somalia, Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, expressed solidarity with Iran’s stance on supporting Palestinian rights and condemned Israel’s aggression.
Fiqi also appreciated Iran’s support in combating terrorism in Somalia and expressed eagerness to deepen relations with Tehran. Both ministers agreed to open a new chapter in bilateral relations, focusing on mutual cooperation and security.
