IDF, Shin Bet near capture of Hamas leader Sinwar

Friday’s operation in Khan Yunis, along with activities in the center of the Gaza Strip and Rafah, may bring the IDF and Shin Bet closer to their main objective: eliminating senior Hamas leadership. A security source suggests that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar is running out of places to hide.

Sinwar is now almost alone at the top of Hamas. His close associates in senior military ranks and officials have either been eliminated or have disappeared. The recent deaths of important figures like Rawhi Mushtaha, Sameh al-Siraj, and three military commanders pose a significant threat to Sinwar’s survival.

The dwindling of Sinwar’s support system makes it hard for him to find secure hiding spots, as revealed by IDF estimations. Recent attempts by Hamas members to cross the Rafah beaches were thwarted by the Navy, highlighting the increasing pressure on Sinwar’s movements.

Is Sinwar’s downfall inevitable?

With his network in shambles and limited safe havens, Sinwar’s days at the top seem numbered. Will Israel finally achieve its goal of capturing Sinwar? Only time will tell.
