Former prime minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, will not seek asylum in other countries and plans to return to her homeland when the interim government calls for elections, as shared by her son Sajeeb Wazed, according to The Times of India. Wazed confirmed that his mother has no intention of requesting political asylum and is currently in India.
He expressed gratitude towards Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for swiftly ensuring his mother’s safety. Sheikh Hasina resigned and departed Bangladesh earlier this week, flying to India. Reports from The Free Press Journal indicate that she initially sought asylum in the UK but received no response, leading her to consider other options such as Belarus, Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, or Finland.
Despite the uncertainty, Sheikh Hasina remains committed to returning to Bangladesh once the conditions are conducive for the upcoming elections. The former PM’s determination and resilience shine through in the face of political challenges.
