Srirangapatna: Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar discussed plans for an amusement park at Brindavan Gardens and the Mysugar factory issue at KRS. Accompanied by officials, Shivakumar inspected the area near Brindavan Gardens at KRS dam in Srirangapatna taluk on Friday.
During a press conference, Shivakumar mentioned the possible retention of the existing Mysugar factory or establishment of a new one. The decision will be made after considering local MLAs’ suggestions. Plans to increase sugarcane crushing to 5,000 tonnes and develop a distillery are underway.
The Deputy CM also discussed the proposal for a Cauvery Arathi and a Cauvery amusement park near Brindavan Gardens. Despite opposition from some farmers’ organizations, the park will be developed on 200 acres of land, as per heritage guidelines.
Regarding Cauvery water release to Tamil Nadu, Shivakumar expressed concerns about excess water being wasted. He affirmed the state’s commitment to the Mekedatu project, dismissing Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy’s comments.
