Congress organises ‘Nyay Yatra’ in Gujarat to boost election prospects.

Aiming to revive its fortune in the state ahead of crucial local elections, the Gujarat Congress launched the 15-day ‘Nyay Yatra’ (March for Justice) from Morbi. Senior leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, are expected to join in the last leg of the march. The march seeks justice for the victims of various tragedies in Gujarat over recent years.

Congress leaders are demanding justice for incidents like the Morbi bridge collapse, Rajkot TRP game zone fire, and Harni lake boat capsizing. The march will culminate in Gandhinagar on August 22, with leaders like Rahul Gandhi expected to participate.

The march, led by Amit Chavda, Lalji Desai, and Jignesh Mevani, aims to hold the BJP-run Gujarat government accountable for the tragedies. Congress alleges that the government is shielding the real culprits. Victims of the tragedies also participated in the march, seeking justice.

Gujarat Congress aims to revive its presence in the state through such public outreach initiatives. The party is focusing on strengthening its hold in rural areas for the upcoming local body elections.

Rahul Gandhi mentioned, “Until we get justice,” emphasizing the party’s commitment to seeking justice for the victims. The Congress faces a tough electoral battle in Gujarat, where it has suffered consecutive defeats in assembly and local body elections.

The BJP accused the Congress of politicizing tragedies for electoral gains, while some victims’ families expressed skepticism about the effectiveness of the march. Despite challenges, the Gujarat Congress remains determined to bring justice to the victims and regain political strength in the state.
