Biden and Austin Discuss ‘Significant’ Mideast Military Deployments

US President Joe Biden and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin recently held talks regarding ongoing military deployments in the Middle East, particularly in preparation for a possible attack on Israel by Iran. The Pentagon has emphasized the need to bolster US forces in the region due to concerns about potential Iranian aggression towards Israel.

In a statement, a senior administration official mentioned that consequences of an attack on Israel by Iran could be substantial for both countries. Additional F-22 Raptor jets have been deployed to the Middle East to counter any threats from Iran.

The official also addressed the stalled peace talks, indicating that while an immediate ceasefire deal is not expected, negotiations are set to resume soon in Doha or Cairo. Despite some tough issues between Israel and Hamas, the US is optimistic about finding a resolution with the involvement of all parties.

In a joint statement, leaders from Egypt, Qatar, and the US have urged Israel and Hamas to resume ceasefire discussions in the near future.
