UK PM Starmer promises harsh punishment for anti-Muslim rioters

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has issued a strong warning against violent protests targeting Muslim communities in the country. Following days of anti-immigration rioting sparked by disinformation surrounding the fatal stabbing of three young girls in Southport, Starmer stated that attacks on mosques will not be tolerated.

378 arrests have been made since the unrest began, with police warning of severe consequences for those found guilty of violent disorder. Despite baseless claims linking the attacker to radical Islamism, the incident is not considered terrorist-related.

Interior Minister Yvette Cooper condemned the violence as a disproportionate reaction to immigration concerns and emphasized the importance of maintaining peace. Protests have erupted across the nation, resulting in looting, attacks on businesses, and clashes with police.

As tensions escalate, countries like Australia and Nigeria have issued warnings to their citizens in or traveling to Britain. Efforts are being made to combat online disinformation that is fueling the violence, with figures like Tommy Robinson and Elon Musk spreading false narratives.
