Russian military denies Ukrainian advances in Kursk Region

Russia’s Defense Ministry has denied reports of significant advances by Ukrainian forces into the Kursk region amidst ongoing clashes along the border. The defense ministry stated that air strikes, missile forces, and artillery fire prevented the enemy from advancing deep into Russian territory.

Since Ukraine’s surprise incursion into the Kursk region, at least five people have been killed and several thousand civilians have been evacuated. Ukrainian forces reportedly advanced 15 kilometers into Russian territory, with ongoing battles spanning around 10 kilometers in length.

Unverified videos showed buildings destroyed in the town of Sudzha, near the border with Ukraine. The Russian military claimed victories in border towns, killing 260 Ukrainian fighters and destroying over 100 tanks and armored vehicles. The defense ministry confirmed the operation to destroy Ukrainian forces continues.

The acting governor briefed President Vladimir Putin on the situation in the Kursk region amid escalating tensions.
