Tragic Deaths of UPSC Aspirants Expose Violations and Negligence
A recent magisterial probe shed light on the deaths of three civil services aspirants in a basement flooding incident in New Delhi. The investigation pointed towards serious violations of laws by the MCD, fire department, and the management of the coaching center involved.
The report highlighted how the misuse of the basement without necessary safety measures led to the tragic loss of lives. Despite previous notices and warnings about building violations, no action was taken, ultimately resulting in the fatal incident on July 27.
The findings also criticized the lack of proper inspections and sanctions, with the fire department overlooking crucial details during assessments. The report called for accountability and strict actions against those responsible for the negligence.
Following the Delhi High Court’s order, the Central Bureau of Investigation took over the case to further investigate the matter. The report emphasized the need for a thorough inquiry by the MCD to prevent such tragedies in the future.
As the authorities continue to probe the incident, it serves as a stark reminder of the importance of upholding safety regulations and ensuring the protection of citizens.
