The General Secretary of the Punjab PPP chapter, Syed Hassan Murtaza, emphasized the importance of not victimizing individuals based on their political affiliation, stating that it weakens the state. Speaking at a ceremony commemorating two party workers executed during Gen Ziaul Haq’s regime in 1983, Murtaza criticized the inclusion of unelected and non-political figures in the government, asserting the need to prioritize political forces.
He highlighted the PPP’s stance of supporting the armed forces while opposing army generals, crediting the party’s current position to the sacrifices made by workers in the fight against military dictators. Rana Farooq Saeed praised the PPP’s role in combatting dictatorship and steering the country through challenging times.
Reflecting on the crisis in Bangladesh, speakers at the event urged for peaceful negotiations to prevent similar struggles. Attendees included Shahada Jabin, Haji Azizur Rahman Chan, Allama Yusuf Awan, and other prominent figures.
