Poll shows UK backing for ICC warrants on Gaza

UK Public Calls for Action Against Israeli War Crimes

As the war in Gaza escalates, thousands of Britons have taken to the streets to demand a ceasefire and an end to UK arms sales to Israel. A recent YouGov poll commissioned by the Council for Arab-British Understanding and Medical Aid for Palestinians revealed that 84% of the British public support the arrest of individuals with International Criminal Court warrants, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes against Palestinians.

The survey also indicated that 58% of Britons favor cutting off arms sales to Israel and 74% want an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. The results reflect a strong public sentiment for accountability and justice in the face of ongoing atrocities in Gaza, where thousands of Palestinians have been killed and injured.

Director of Caabu, Chris Doyle, emphasizes the importance of public opinion in influencing government actions regarding ICC arrest warrants. He notes the significant gap between public sentiment and official government positions on the issue, calling for swift action to address the crisis in Gaza.

With mounting pressure on the UK to comply with international law and support accountability, the British public’s stance remains firm, urging the government to take decisive steps to ensure justice and end the violence in the region.
