The recent assassination of senior Hamas leader, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran by the Israeli regime has been strongly condemned by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The 57-member body emphasized the criminal nature of the attack and held the occupying power fully responsible for the heinous crime. The OIC described it as a violation of international law, the UN Charter, and Iran’s sovereignty, urging immediate intervention by the UN Security Council to prevent further destabilization in the region.
Saudi Arabia also denounced the assassination as a blatant violation of Iran’s sovereignty. Iran’s acting Foreign Minister emphasized the country’s right to retaliate against such aggression, warning of a harsh response. The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the need for a strong response from the Axis of Resistance, particularly Iran.
The OIC’s unified stance against this act of aggression highlights the importance of international solidarity in the face of injustice and violations of sovereignty.
