The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Arrests Suspected Vandals Amid Hunger Protest
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Federal has apprehended 12 individuals suspected of vandalizing critical infrastructure during the ongoing nationwide hunger protest. These arrests were made across different locations in Abuja between August 5 and 7, 2024.
The suspects were caught in the act of attempting to damage infrastructure in various areas of Abuja. From trying to vandalize street lights to scaling fences at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, these individuals were detained during routine patrols amidst the protest.
FCT Commandant, Olusola Odumosu, reiterated the seriousness of vandalism, emphasizing the negative impact it has on society. He urged residents to report any suspicious activities and encouraged dialogue over destructive actions.
The nationwide hunger protest, initiated on August 1, aimed to address the hardships faced by citizens. However, the protests escalated into violence in various cities, including Abuja, due to a variety of factors.
