The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State has seen a significant boost in its membership as over 500 individuals from different political parties, including the Labour Party (LP), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Young People’s Party (YPP), and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), have defected to the ruling party in the Bende Federal Constituency.
The defections were officially announced following the visit of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, to various wards in the constituency. During his tour, Kalu welcomed more than 400 people into the APC fold. Notable defectors include former PDP councillors, LP ward chairman, YPP ward vice-chairman, and former APGA local government chairman.
Expressing their reasons for joining APC, the defectors praised Kalu’s performance in bringing development projects to the area and lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for signing the South East Development Commission (SEDC) bill into law. In return, they promised unwavering support for the APC.
As Kalu continues to garner support and gratitude from the people, his visits to different wards have not only strengthened the party’s presence but also highlighted the commitment of the APC to the development and progress of Abia State.
