One person was fatally shot, and a police officer sustained injuries during a shootout in Msinga, KwaZulu-Natal. The police were transporting a suspect linked to a triple murder case from October 2023 when another man opened fire on them.
The suspect was found with a rifle believed to have been used in the KwaNqulu murders. The situation escalated when the shooter initiated fire from a local taxi rank.
Further investigation will be conducted to determine the connection of the firearms to other crime scenes. The suspect arrested in connection with the triple murders is set to appear in court soon.
