Preparing for the Worst: Lebanon Stocking Up on Emergency Medical Supplies
As tensions escalate between Lebanon and Israel, Lebanon is taking proactive measures to prepare for potential war injuries. The World Health Organisation (WHO) recently delivered a 32-tonne shipment of emergency medical supplies to Lebanon, with another shipment expected soon.
Recent developments, including the assassination of key figures from Hezbollah and Hamas, have heightened fears of a wider regional conflict. Lebanon’s caretaker Health Minister Firass Abiad emphasized the importance of readiness, citing the daily bombings in the country’s south by Israel.
With over 500 fatalities and thousands injured in daily skirmishes along Lebanon’s southern border, the country is on high alert. Emergency plans have been drawn up for hospitals and regions most at risk, with a focus on potential destruction similar to what has been witnessed in Gaza.
