New Passport Printing System to Increase Capacity to 60,000 per Day by September
Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar announced in the National Assembly that new machinery and software are set to be installed, which will boost the printing capacity of passports to 60,000 per day by the end of September. This initiative aims to address delays in passport issuance and clear the existing backlog of applications.
The minister highlighted that the current passport printing system, established in 2004, can only handle up to 26,000 passports per day, which is insufficient given the significant increase in applications over the past two decades. Additionally, with the expansion of Pakistani missions to 92 and the establishment of 300 application centers across the country, it has become crucial to enhance printing capabilities.
Assuring the National Assembly of a resolution by September, the minister emphasized the government’s commitment to streamlining the passport issuance process for the convenience of Pakistani citizens.
