Israel’s VIP bunker on alert amid Iranian threats?

Will Israel Activate Its Underground Bunker in Jerusalem Amid Rising Tensions?

Following the recent assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and the looming threat of an Iranian response, the question of whether Israel will utilize its underground bunker in the Jerusalem hills during a potential war with Iran and Lebanon has surfaced.

While preparations have been made to operationalize the National Emergency Management Center (NEMC) in Jerusalem, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is currently managing conflict situations from the Defense Ministry headquarters in Tel Aviv, with sources indicating that he is unlikely to shift operations to the NEMC.

Rumors of Netanyahu and his family planning to seek refuge in the underground complex in the event of an Iranian attack have been circulating, but the Prime Minister’s Office has refuted these claims as “complete fake news.”

The decision to build the NEMC was influenced by the lessons learned from past conflicts, particularly the 2006 Second Lebanon War, and the complex is equipped to withstand a range of threats, from conventional to cyberattacks.
